Detailed Summary

What is DCA Bot?

DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) Bot puts your crypto buying over time on autopilot, with full customization over what you buy, how much, and when — all with low fees. Choose one or multiple crypto assets, define how much you want to allocate, select your purchase schedule, and let DCA Bot execute the strategy automatically. DCA Bot runs on Spot Trading, with the same applicable trading fee structure as standard Spot transactions. You can also enable Auto-Earn, allowing eligible assets purchased through your bot to automatically earn daily rewards calculated in APR.

How can you access DCA Bot?

DCA Bot is available on both web and app.

  • Web: Open the Tools dropdown menu, select Trading Bot, then choose DCA Bot to access the creation dashboard.

  • App: Switch to Pro view, then go to More on the homepage → Services → Trading Bot → DCA Bot to access the creation dashboard.

What is dollar cost averaging?

Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) is a strategy where purchases are spread across different points in time rather than deploying the full amount in a single transaction. For example, instead of purchasing €1,200 of BTC at once, a DCA strategy could purchase €100 every month for 12 months. Because the market price changes between purchases, each transaction may execute at a different price. Over time, this creates an average purchase price across multiple market entry points. The approach can also reduce the need to continuously monitor the market or manually decide when to execute each purchase.

Why use DCA Bot?

Automate your buying strategy

Configure your strategy once and let DCA Bot automatically execute purchases according to the schedule you choose.

Full customization

  • What you buy

  • How much you allocate

Create a bot with a single crypto asset or build a portfolio containing up to five tokens within one DCA Bot.

Flexible purchase schedules

Choose from frequencies ranging from every 10 minutes to every 4 weeks.

Low fees

DCA Bot uses the same applicable trading fee structure as Spot Trading. There is no additional bot trading fee.

Add Auto-Earn

Eligible assets purchased by your bot can automatically earn daily rewards at the applicable APR.

Monitor everything in one place

Track your purchases, average entry price, P&L, bot configuration and Auto-Earn rewards directly from your DCA Bot dashboard.

How DCA Bot works

  1. Choose your investment currency

DCA Bot uses USDC to fund your scheduled purchases. Your selected crypto assets are purchased using USDC according to the strategy you configure.

  1. Select the crypto assets you want to buy

Choose from over 100+ crypto assets you want your DCA Bot to purchase. You can:

  • Build a single-token strategy

  • Select up to five tokens within one bot

  • Define a separate purchase allocation for each token

The available assets can be viewed directly from the DCA Bot creation page.

  1. Set your purchase amount

Choose how much your bot should invest each time the strategy runs. For multi-token strategies, you can determine the amount allocated to each individual asset. Each purchase remains subject to the applicable minimum and maximum Spot order values.

  1. Choose your purchase schedule

Set how frequently your strategy should execute. Available frequencies include:

Frequency Type

Available Options

Minutes

Every 10 minutes

Hours

Every 1, 4, 8 or 12 hours

Daily

Every 1 day

Weekly

Every 1, 2 or 4 weeks

This allows you to build anything from a more frequent DCA strategy to a longer-term monthly allocation.

  1. Set a maximum investment amount — optional

You can specify the maximum total amount you want your DCA Bot to deploy. Once: Maximum Investment Amount − Amount Already Investedis no longer sufficient to complete another scheduled purchase, the bot will automatically stop. This provides an additional way to control the total amount allocated through the strategy.

  1. Enable Auto-Earn — optional

When confirming your bot, you can choose to enable Auto-Earn. Eligible assets purchased through DCA Bot can then automatically be placed into their corresponding Flexible Rewards product after each purchase and earn daily.

  1. Review and start your bot

Before starting, review:

  • Selected crypto assets

  • Allocation per token

  • Total purchase amount

  • Purchase frequency

  • Maximum investment amount, if set

Once confirmed, your DCA Bot becomes active and the first purchase can begin. [Create Your DCA Bot]

Example: building a multi-token DCA strategy

Suppose you create the following strategy:

  • Investment Currency: USDC

  • Assets: BTC + ETH

  • Purchase Frequency: Weekly

  • BTC Allocation: 50 USDC

  • ETH Allocation: 50 USDC

  • Total Per Purchase: 100 USDC

  • Maximum Investment: 2,000 USDC

Every week, DCA Bot automatically executes:

50 USDC → BTC 50 USDC → ETH 50 USDC

If BTC and ETH prices change between purchases, the amount of each asset received will also change. Over time, DCA Bot tracks the average purchase price across all completed transactions.

Average Entry Price

The average entry price for an asset can be calculated as:

Total Purchased Value ÷ Total Quantity Purchased

Instead of manually calculating this, DCA Bot displays your average buy price directly in your bot dashboard.

Auto-Earn on DCA Bot

Automatically earn on your bot positions

DCA Bot automates how you purchase crypto.Auto-Earn extends the process by automating what can happen after the purchase. When enabled, eligible assets purchased through DCA Bot can automatically earn daily rewards calculated in APR. This means you can continue building your position through DCA while eligible accumulated assets also generate daily rewards. Depending on the asset and current Flexible Rewards rate, users can earn up to 1.4% APR.

The journey

Scheduled Purchase → Asset Accumulated → Flexible Rewards → Daily Rewards

How Auto-Earn works

  1. Configure your DCA Bot

Choose your assets, investment amount and schedule.

  1. Enable Auto-Earn

Select Auto-Earn when confirming your bot.

  1. DCA Bot executes your purchase

Your bot purchases the selected assets according to your strategy.

  1. Eligible assets enter Flexible Rewards

Following the purchase, eligible assets are automatically allocated to their corresponding Flexible Rewards product.

  1. Earn daily Rewards

Rewards begin accruing at the applicable APR.

When might an asset not enter Auto-Earn?

A purchased asset may not automatically enter Flexible Rewards if:

  • The asset is not available for Auto-Earn.

  • The purchased amount does not meet the minimum Flexible Rewards subscription requirement.

  • The relevant Flexible Rewards pool is temporarily unavailable or has reached its applicable capacity.

Only assets meeting the applicable Auto-Earn requirements will be allocated to Flexible Rewards.

Track Auto-Earn from your Bot dashboard

From My Bots → DCA Bot → Details, you can see:

  • Your bot configuration

  • Assets accumulated through the bot

  • Assets eligible for Auto-Earn

  • Applicable APR

  • Rewards generated through Auto-Earn

This allows the buying strategy and rewards activity to be monitored within the same DCA Bot experience.

Funding your DCA Bot

DCA Bot uses the prescribed USDC before each scheduled purchase. Before every execution, ensure that there is enough USDC available to cover your configured purchase amount. You can also review transfers and bot-related transactions from your account transaction history.

What happens if you don't have enough funds?

If your available USDC balance is insufficient for the next scheduled purchase:

  1. You will be notified that additional funds are required.

  2. The scheduled purchase will not execute.

  3. Your DCA Bot will be suspended.

  4. The bot itself will not be terminated.

  5. Once sufficient funds are available, the bot can automatically resume at the next scheduled purchase time.

This means a temporary funding shortfall does not require you to recreate your strategy.

DCA Bot notifications

You may receive email and push notifications when action is required. For example, Bybit EU can notify you when your available USDC balance is not sufficient to execute the next scheduled purchase.

Monitor your DCA strategy

Once your bot is active, you can manage it through My Bots. Select Details for the relevant DCA Bot to review information including:

Position overview

See the assets accumulated through your strategy.

Total investment

Track how much has been deployed through the bot.

Average Buy price

View your average purchase price for each asset.

Total P&L

Token P&L

See performance at the individual asset level.

Executed quantity

Review the amount purchased through completed transactions.

Order history

Strategy parameters

Check your configured purchase amount, frequency and other bot settings.

Auto-Earn rewards

Where Auto-Earn is enabled, see rewards generated through Flexible Rewards.

Modify your DCA Bot

Modify your DCA bot via the Bot Dashboard. Select "DCA" and view all running DCA bots. Go to: My Bots → DCA Bot → Details → Modify

Depending on the available configuration, you can modify:

  • Purchase amount

  • Purchase frequency

  • Maximum investment amount

Once the changes are successfully saved, the updated strategy takes effect for future purchases. Certain settings cannot be changed after creation, including the selected assets and Auto-Earn configuration. If you want to change these, you may need to create a new bot.

How many DCA Bots can you run?

Multiple DCA Bots can be created, including multiple strategies for the same crypto asset. The broader Bybit trading bot system supports up to 20 active DCA Bots combined. This allows users to separate different:

  • Assets

  • Purchase frequencies

  • Investment amounts

  • Portfolio strategies

into independently managed bots.

How is DCA Bot P&L calculated?

DCA Bot profit can be calculated as:

DCA Bot Profit = Σ (Asset Quantity × Current Price) − Total Investment Amount

Because crypto prices fluctuate, DCA Bot P&L will change as the market value of the accumulated assets changes. Auto-Earn rewards are separate from the market P&L generated by the underlying assets.

How to Terminate a DCA Bot

You can stop a running DCA Bot from My Bots. Select the bot and choose Terminate. Depending on the available settlement options, you can choose to:

Keep the Crypto Assets

The assets accumulated through the bot are returned without requiring an additional trade.

Settle Into USDC

Your accumulated assets can instead be converted into USDC at the prevailing market price. Where conversion is required, applicable Spot Trading fees apply. If a direct trading pair is unavailable, an intermediate conversion may be required, which can result in more than one trading transaction and associated fees. After termination, the relevant assets are transferred back to your account.

What happens to Auto-Earn when the Bot is terminated?

Where Auto-Earn has been used, rewards already accrued are handled according to the applicable Flexible Rewards settlement process. Accrued rewards for the current day may be settled separately after termination.

Fees

There is no additional trading fee specifically for using DCA Bot. DCA Bot orders use the same applicable fee structure as Spot Trading. Trading fees are incurred only when scheduled Spot orders are successfully executed. Additional Spot Trading fees may apply if assets need to be converted when terminating your bot.

Key risks and considerations

DCA does not eliminate market risk

Dollar Cost Averaging changes how and when you purchase an asset. It does not reduce the underlying price risk of the crypto asset itself. You may still lose some or all of the amount allocated to the strategy.

DCA does not guarantee a better entry price

Spreading purchases over time reduces reliance on a single entry point, but it does not guarantee that your average purchase price will be better than making a one-time purchase. For example, if the market consistently rises, later purchases may occur at progressively higher prices.

Trading costs still apply

Each successfully executed DCA purchase is a Spot transaction and is subject to applicable trading fees. A higher purchase frequency therefore generally means a larger number of individual transactions.

Execution prices can vary

Scheduled purchases execute based on market conditions at the time of execution. The actual price received can therefore differ between purchases.

Auto-Earn introduces separate product risks

Auto-Earn uses Flexible Rewards, which is separate from the Spot DCA Bot trading functionality. APR varies by asset and can change over time. Up to 1.4% APR represents a maximum available rate and does not mean every asset will receive that rate. Rewards earned through Flexible Rewards also do not protect against a decline in the market value of the underlying crypto asset.
