Example
On Day 1, Trader A holds 1 BTC, and the market price at 12AM (midnight) is 45,000 USDC. Trader A sells 0.5 BTC at 46,000 USDC. The closing price of BTC on Day 1 is 46,500 USDC.
Equity at the end of Day 1 = 46,500 × (1 - 0.5) = 23,250 USDC
Initial Equity = 45,000 × 1 = 45,000 USDC
Net Outflow = 0.5 × 46,000 = 23,000 USDC
Day 1 P&L = 23,250 - 45,000 + 23,000 = 1,250 USDC
On Day 2, Trader A buys 2 ETH at the market price of 2,400 USDC, and sells 1 ETH at 2,500 USDC on Day 3. On Day 5, Trader A deposits 1 BTC at a market price of 44,000 USDC. On Day 7, BTC closes at 46,700 USDC and ETH at 2,450 USDC.
Equity at the end of Day 7 = 1.5 × 46,700 + 1 × 2,450 = 72,500 USDC
Total Inflow & Deposits = 2 × 2,400 + 1 × 44,000 = 48,800 USDC
Total Outflow & Withdrawals = 0.5 × 46,000 + 1 × 2,500 = 25,500 USDC
7-Day P&L = 72,500 + 25,500 - 45,000 - 48,800 = 4,200 USDC
7-Day P&L (%) = 4,200 / (45,000 + 48,800 - 25,500) × 100% = 6.15%
